He has a Super Bowl ring to show for it.Jeffery was cleared for contact after offseason shoulder surgery and practiced Wednesday with the Philadelphia Eagles Youth Mike Wallace Jersey , inching closer to returning to the lineup for the first time since he made a leaping 34-yard touchdown catch against the New England Patriots in February."It was worth it," Jeffery said. "If I had to do it over again, I'd do the same thing."Jeffery signed a one-year deal in free agency in March 2017 and got injured in training camp but played through it. He was rewarded with a four-year extension worth $52 million, with $27 million guaranteed, during the season. The Eagles (2-1) have missed their top receiver. He had nine TD catches last season and three more in the playoffs. Coach Doug Pederson isn't certain yet whether Jeffery will play at Tennessee (2-1) on Sunday."It definitely gives us, offensively, a shot in the arm, and he can become a big impact, quite honestly, with the offense and the formations and moving our guys around Color Rush Jalen Mills Jersey , moving him inside, moving him outside," Pederson said. "There's going to be a progression with him, and I don't think it will be instantaneous, but at the same time the more comfortable he gets, the better he becomes. He becomes a target defensively as you saw in some of the games last year where he was doubled a lot, especially in the red zone, and we know that is going to happen. He makes a huge difference for us."Carson Wentz just returned after tearing two knee ligaments in Week 14. His final pass last season was a TD to Jeffery, who doesn't put himself in the quarterback's category."Carson is the captain of the ship. I don't see similarities because I play receiver," he said.Wentz only had six of his 25 completions to wide receivers last week in a 20-16 win over Indianapolis. He's excited to get Jeffery back."Anytime Alshon is out there Youth Jay Ajayi Jersey , he brings a spark to the offense," Wentz said. "He brings somebody that has the ability to make a play down the field and underneath and do some things really well."NOTES: RBs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring), DE Michael Bennett (illness) and S Rodney McLeod (knee) didn't practice. Ajayi missed one game, Sproles sat out the last two.Philadelphia Eagles cut three practice squad players, sign one In addition to making some changes to their 53-man roster, the Philadelphia Eagles announced some practice squad moves on Friday afternoon. The following players have been released: defensive tackle Winston Craig, wide receiver Greg Ward Jr., and wide receiver Rashard Davis.Imagen
The following player has been signed: defensive tackle Treyvon Hester. It’s not surprising to see the Eagles cut Craig and Ward. Craig, a Richmond alumnus (Joe Douglas connection), seems strictly more like a practice body than he does a developmental prospect. The Eagles liked Ward’s potential last year but he didn’t really show signs of improvement this summer.Cutting Davis is a little more surprising. He seemed to be pushing for a roster spot before DeAndre Carter stepped up and beat him out. Davis deserved to be on the practice squad.Another surprising part about Davis (and Ward) getting cut is that the Eagles only have five healthy receivers on their 53-man roster with Alshon Jeffery missing time and Mack Hollins being placed on injured reserve. Maybe the Eagles intend to sign one of the two pass catchers they worked out earlier this week? The new guy , Hester, originally entered the league as a seventh-round pick by the Raiders in the 2017 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Hester played in 14 games (one start) and had nine tackles and one forced fumble. Hester made Oakland’s original 53-man roster last weekend but he got cut after Jon Gruden’s team claimed a player on waivers and needed to make room. Speaking of waiver claims, the Eagles unsuccessfully tried to claim two defensive linemen earlier this week. It’s clear they’ve been looking for some more depth at the defensive tackle position. Hester is that guy for now.For those keeping track, the Eagles now have two vacant practice squad spots. It remains to be seen how they’ll fill them. It’s possible the Eagles will put Tre Sullivan, whom they waived on Friday, back on the PS if he goes through waivers unclaimed. That still leaves one open spot. Given how much Howie Roseman likes to churn the bottom of the roster, it’s entirely possible we see some of these waived players return during the season. Stay tuned to Bleeding Green Nation for more very important practice squad news.Current Eagles practice squadRB Josh AdamsCB De’Vante BausbyTE Billy BrownDT Treyvon HesterDE Joe OstmanCB Chandon SullivanC Jon TothLB Joe Walker(Vacant)(Vacant)
